Peptide Based Weight Loss
Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. Cells build proteins one amino acid at a time, creating a string of them linked together. Generally speaking, proteins are strings of amino acids that are built of over 100 amino acids. But there are many strings of amino acids that are not that long; they are 50 or fewer amino acids in length. These are called peptides. Many peptides are hormones that we are familiar with: insulin, growth hormone, oxytocin, and dozens of others.
Many peptides act as signaling molecules, either
binding to the surface of cells or acting in the interior of cells. Their role is to coax the cell into altering its metabolism in some way. And this is where they work their magic in facilitating weight loss.
Peptide therapy is one of the most revolutionary types of therapy to become available in my 22+ years of clinical practice. In short, peptides are short sequences of amino acids, not long enough to be called proteins (for example, insulin is a well-known peptide). These short sequences act as regulators on cells, binding to surface receptors and initiating a wide range of potential effects. It has revolutionized weight loss, allowing people who have struggled for decades to start successfully losing weight and actually not feeling hungry for the very first time. I utilize peptides primarily to facilitate weight loss, though this very commonly entails supporting other aspects of health as well, such as detoxification, cellular energy production, hormonal balancing, and others.
The primary peptides utilized in this weight loss and metabolic enhancement program are called semaglutide and tirzepatide. With a subscription patients are sent a monthly supply of the appropriate peptide with precise dosage instructions regarding weekly injections that are self administered at home.
Let's Talk
The first month of enrollment costs $550. This covers the initial 45-minute consultation, lab review, and peptide supply. All subsequent months are typically $399, automatically charged to your card on or around the same day every month. Cost includes peptide supply, symptom review with dosage adjustments, and up to 5 messages each month you can send directly to me through the patient portal with questions or concerns. If you require more support than can be given through 5 messages, you will need to schedule a video consultation, charged in addition to the monthly subscription cost. Subscribers will also get free access to a group video Q&A session approximately every 6 weeks, led by me, a program peer advocate, or both of us. These sessions allow you to ask questions about your experience, hear about how others are doing, and establish communication with others going through the program.
The therapy is delivered within the context of a monthly subscription. Once enrolled, there is an extensive intake form that is sent out and must be completed at least 3 days prior to an initial 45-minute video consultation with me. During that session I will review your past medical history, current health status, any labs you have uploaded to your portal, and I will talk through the weekly injection process. I will also determine the set of labs that will be necessary for you to have done prior to initiating the program. These labs help to determine your current health and will be used as a baseline to track your progress over time.
Once established in the program, each month you will be sent a symptom survey through your patient portal to promptly fill out and return to me. I will review your responses and make a determination about dosage changes that might be appropriate for the subsequent month. Failure to complete and return this survey will result in an interruption in the therapy.
