Welcome to the January edition of this newsletter, welcome to 2026, and to welcome to staring down the barrel of any new year’s resolutions you might have made. I’m all for new year’s resolutions, which are nothing more than a commitment to have more discipline. We could all use a little (or a lot) more of that. If someone created a pill that gave us all the discipline we want, it would cut at least by half the revenue of several massive industries (think alcohol, tobacco, fast food, junk food and drinks, a large chunk of pharmaceutical sales, etc.) and cut our health care expenses to a fraction of what they are now. The “sick care economy” is banking on us lacking the discipline to resist our self-sabotaging inclinations. So I say, resolve with reckless abandon. In fact with a quick search I find that supplements such as omega-3 oils and tyrosine can enhance impulse control, which is half of the self-discipline battle. Now get comfortable and enjoy another information-packed scroll session. You’ll learn how I became so fascinated with the medicinal potential of water, you’ll read about a patient’s cat allergy that wasn’t a cat allergy, you’ll get invited to a first-ever highly experimental open conversation/Q&A I’ll be hosting at the end of the month, and more. You’ll need to click through and read the full articles to get to the discount offers I’ve strategically buried inside.
